Project Overview
168 Division street apartments provide a modern approach to student living in the heart of the student community in Kingston. Located close to Queen’s University, this contemporary living complex sits just minutes away from the intersection of Lake Ontario, providing affordable housing within walking distance of Kingston’s vibrant student neighbourhood. Select Door and Frame Inc. were enlisted by Synergy Project Ltd to deliver a full range of products and services to support the 27 units.
Project Scope
As with all of our projects, we began the process by meeting with the developer to understand their broad vision and ambition for 168 Division Street. The design specification for this contemporary student living complex was simple: modern affordable luxury.
With this in mind, our teams worked together experimenting with colour and finishes to meet the design brief. We also took into account the practical requirements of the project, ensuring details around sizing, logistics and health and safety standards were accounted for during every step of the design, specification and installation.
As an experienced door supplier, we worked with our client to ensure all of our doors and hardware reflected the broader design aesthetic of the development. To complement the sleek, bright design scheme in place, we specified Baillargeon 8600 series doors in stunning White Birch. To complete the high-end look, we opted for Satin finished Allegion hardware, delivering a stylish accent, not to mention long-lasting durability to withstand usage for years to come.
In shared living communities, security is important to bring students peace of mind when living away from home for the first time. To bring reassurance to future residents, all doors were fitted with push button electronic locks and trusty Hunter door operators.
As with all residential buildings, fire safety was a critical consideration for our team. We opted to outfit all doors with FireLite glass for a quality, fire-resistant glazing that delivers a premium, polished finish.
The Result
The finished project was a resounding success. Our team supported the contractor to deliver a custom-fit series of doors, frames and hardware – all delivered on time, to budget and to the highest professional standards. We were proud to work with such an ambitious developer whose vision really came to life in the stunning finished result.
